Landscape 2 color

So I think I'm getting the hang of coloring my grayscaled version. I know because I'm getting faster at it. Still working on trying to get a better range of color though, at least this one seems to have more than the last one so that's good I guess. I have to get started on heads and hands homework, then back to the pages. thanks for lookin. more soon.

Landscape 2

I will post a color version of this tonight. This was another rip off from a landscape painted by James Paick. Most of his value studies of landscapes are a good source of reference because you can see how he is using his brushes, from what i can tell its not what he's putting down but what he is taking away that really makes his stuff stand out.

ARCHIVE DESIGN STUDIO UP AND RUNNING

That's right, my first "offical" web site is up and running. Please take a look and tell me what you guys think, the link is to the right above my picture. I'm ready to try and make my way by means of freelance design adventures and any potential client help you guys could give me would be very much appreciated. Special thanks goes to my good friend NU for putting up with my anal-retentiveness when helping me put this together.
I went out last night to do a little drink and drawing with a couple of friends. I gave this 20-30 min. drawing to a friend so I appologize for the terrible iphone low light bar pic. "The Captain" is a character from the project im working on with ECV. Hopefully with any luck ill be posting some inked pages in the next couple of weeks or so. Besides that the next post will likely be another digital landscape for class. I hope you all have a great weekend. More soon.

Updates

Hello, so just thought I would check in and let people know what I've been up to. The past week has been dedicated to freelance work and getting my other "official" web site up. Hopefully that will be finished up later this week, I got my business cards friday.
Saturday I was invited to a taco BBQ at a friends house. A couple of weeks ago my good friend had to put his dog down and his wife had asked me if I wouldn't mind doing a drawing of his dog "Sassy" for him. I apologize for the crappy iphone picture but I think you get the point. Also a funny pic of my son acting silly at the BBQ.

Besides that I was fortunate enough after three months of begging and crying ECV was nice enough to give me some comic work. I will be penciling the first 12 pages for a cool sci-fi trade. I also did some test inks for two other artists and there is a good possibility that I'll be inking their upcoming projects as well. Here is a crude scan of the first characters that appear. I'll be posting updates of those works as they allow me.

Tonight me and my girlfriend attended a very well performed concert at the Mondavi Center on the UC Davis campus where my Mom and many others performed works from Bach. Really cool experience.

Hope everyone's weekend went well. more soon.

MONKEYS!!!

I have no desire to be around anything that would go after my balls in the first sign of trouble. Monkeys make me feel uncomfortable. Anyway, there was a Tarzan to acompany them but he didn't turn out all that well and was not worth posting so instead here are a couple of monkeys. I'm working on a Tank Girl piece that I wanted to post considering the lack of female focused drawings on this blog. I ran into a hang up when I couldn't find reference for her tank and so I ordered a book of Jaime Hewlett Tank Girl stuff to help me out and well, just because Im a fan of his artwork. As soon as I get it in the mail I'll finish that up and post it. More soon.

Rorshach

I hope I spelled his name correctly. Today I witnessed a sweet drawing of the Silk Spectre II. I decided to take a crack at a Watchmen character of my own. To be completely honest i've never read the Watchmen comic and I don't even know if Rorshach here carries or uses firearms, but from the pictures and his bio he seems like a badasss. You can check out that Silk Spectre HERE. As soon as I get over this cold I'm going to see the movie. more soon.

Pencil stuff.

**Thanks to everyone at ECV PRESS, for the kind words and nice plug. You guys are awsome.

well, this is it for a couple of days. I have a landscape comp that I have to put together for my class as well as other homeworks. I'm currently freaking out a little because I've seemed to have misplaced my flash/usb thing that had speed paint thing I did as well as some custom brushes I made last week, this sucks. Speaking of sucking, I didnt really finish my superman piece but I am posting the few ideas I had put down. Inking has been the bane of my existence it seems, for every 20 pieces I do 1 seems to come out ok. Oh, ok things to suggest too. If your into comics, you should subscribe to a couple of podcast that i've been listening to. The first is called the crankcast, the other is called sidebar, both are really good and also good to draw to while listening. Well I think that about does it. thanks for looking.

character design, finished

Hope everyone's weekend is going well. I changed his legs because I was really going crazy looking at how awful the proportions and such were. This is about as much as I'm going to take this one. I working on a Superman piece right now and I'll post that soon.
